The PhD program was the second part of my 1985-1989 graduate studies in Berkeley (CA), funded by the German Academic Exchange Council (DAAD) / Das Ph.D.-Programm war der zweite Teil meiner Graduiertenausbildung 1985-1989 in Berkeley, die durch ein Stipendium des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD) unterstützt wurde, cf. 1985-1989 Graduate studies.

1986 School of Public Health (3.4.1986ff): Self-study process. Student member of the accreditation task force on “School mission and goals”, led by dean J.C. Lashof. The process resulted in a two-volume report to the Council on Education for Public Health / Re-Akkreditierung der School of Public Health; studentisches Mitglied in der Arbeitsgruppe “Mission und Ziele”. Es wurde ein zweibändiger Bericht für den Council on Education for Public Health erstellt.

23 May 1989 The Regents of the University of California on the nomination of the Graduate Council of the Berkeley Division have conferred upon Rainer Fehr having demonstrated ability by original research in epidemiology the degree of Doctor of Philosophy with all the rights and privileges thereto pertaining / Verleihung des PhD-Grades.
