The exhibition is based on long-standing cooperation of the Ethnological Museum Hamburg and the National Folk Museum of Korea. It refers to the significance of traditions in Korea’s modern spirit which is strongly influenced by pop culture and high-tech developments / Die Ausstellung beruht auf langjähriger Kooperation des Museums für Völkerkunde Hamburg und des National Folk Museum of Korea und betrifft den Stellenwert von Traditionen in der von Popkultur und Hightech geprägten Moderne Koreas.

More than 90% of the population live in the cities. Current issues include the culture of speed, the education frenzy, and the engagement with their own tradition, e.g. the role of Confucianism today. Since 2014, the museum’s Korean collection are being studied jointly with the Korean research institute NRICH / Über 90 % der Menschen leben dort heute in Städten. Zu den aktuellen Themen gehören die Kultur der Schnelligkeit, das Bildungsfieber und auch die Beschäftigung mit der eigenen Tradition, samt Bedeutung des Konfuzianismus in der Moderne. Sammlungsstücke aus dem Museum für Völkerkunde werden seit 2014 gemeinsam mit dem koreanischen Forschungsinstitut NRICH erforscht.
