A group planned to climb Mt. Whitney (4421 m), the highest summit in the contiguous USA / Eine Gruppe wollte den Mt. Whitney (4421 m) besteigen, den höchsten Berg der USA außerhalb Alaskas.
On the way up, a discussion came up about the significance of this cloud formation. One position implied that such clouds would have no particular meaning for local weather forecast in the Sierra Nevada (as opposed, perhaps, to Europe) / Beim Aufstieg ergab sich eine Diskussion über die Bedeutung der beobachteten Wolkenformation. Es wurde die Ansicht vertreten, solche Wolken hätten nichts zu sagen für die lokale Wetterentwicklung in der Sierra Nevada (im Gegensatz, vielleicht, zu Europa).
A few hours later, however, a blizzard stopped the party from moving on upwards / Einige Stunden später verhinderte allerdings ein Schneesturm den weiteren Aufstieg.
